Yanks take three out of four from Royals

I have posted the first game result and victory against the Royals(10-4) here. The Yankees took two of three remaining games to make three out of four, not bad. But then again, it was against a 42-56 team so the outcome of the 4 game series shouldn’t surprise anyone. The Yankees outscored the Royals 33 to 18 runs, so the offense is running on all gears but defense is not so appealing. I understand that the Royals can hit but there are holes in the Yankee pitching.  Although AJ Burnett was very affective in Friday’s game (7-1) he only pitched 5 innings, strange? Gardner, Cano and Posada drove all 7  runs. Box Score

Saturday’s game was very different. Mitre who is now an official starter until Pettitte returns, was hit hard. He gave up 7 hits and 5 earned runs. The Yankees lost 7-4. The bright spot was Mosely who took over for Mitre and gave up ZERO runs and only ONE hit in 4.2 innings. If you were wondering about the other two runs, they were unearned. Box Score and Recap.

Today’s game was a massacre, a no contest, NOT REALLY, a 12-6 victory. Again pitching was not impressive. Hughes again was hit, he pitched 5.1 innings, 6 hits and 3 earned runs. Again, like I mentioned in the very beginning of this post, the Royals are a good hitting team but no pitching. So if this were a team that had good pitching then the results would be much different. The Yankees are in first place but only managed to gain one game on the Rays in the last 10 games. So the lead is only 3 games, the pressure is still on the Yankee pitching staff. Yanks score 5 runs in the bottom of the 8th inning to win and make it look like a massacre. Box Score and Highlights .
