Rays starting pitcher Hellickson shut the lifeless Yanks with a three-hitter and an almost complete game. Which means the final out was recorded by the Tampa relief staff. The Yankees are headed to Baltimore with a 0-3 record while the Orioles are 3-0. Nova will be brought up to the forefront he will need to pitch at least 7 solid innings and give the bullpen some rest. In these three games the Yankee starters in total have pitched 16.1 innings of the 27 innings played with the Rays and have been getting worse every game. Sabathia pitched 6.0 innings, Kuroda 5.2 innings and today Hughes pitched only 4.2. Nova will need to become the “Stopper” and the Yankee offense will need to wake up and provide some meaningful offense. Let’s see how it turns out, one game at a time of course but in a “clutch” way. It seems that this veteran Yankee lineup have forgotten the reason why they are wearing those pinstripes. Or could it be that they are still stunned after that horrific playoff eliminating lost to Detroit? I’ll leave this subject alone for now, go Yanks!!!
